Winter Camp

Registration Now Closed

During Winter Camp we play, build, sing, work, and explore the ways in which farm life intersects with Jewish practice and social justice. Through farm responsibilities, self-directed play, and project-based nature activities, students will learn about the natural world and explore community, teamwork, and the interconnectedness of all things.

Who says farm camp is only for summer?

This winter, Camp Urban Adamah is offering three sessions: two three-day sessions and one four-day session designed for children ages 4 – 10 (PK4 – grade 4). Each session will be thematically based on relevant dates within both the Jewish and Gregorian calendars. With Jewish teachings and stories guiding the experience, Winter Camp introduces preschool and primary-aged children to Judaism’s deep connections to the natural world and their place in it.

We will honor seasonal transitions and Jewish time, learn about Hanukkah and the ushering in of winter, as well as land acknowledgement as part of Indigenous Peoples’ Month. We will learn about how we can take care of our earth during this seasonal time of rest, play with light and darkness, make and eat celebratory foods, and discover daily miracles on the farm!

What Happens At Winter Camp?

Campers enjoy their day in chavurot (small groups) of similarly-aged campers, led by two counselors. Each day includes time for Shomrei Adamah (“guardians of the earth”), story telling, and hands-on activities that are age-specific.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

All eligible campers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least two weeks prior to the start of camp. All campers must have received a booster in addition to initial vaccination. All camp staff are required to be fully vaccinated with a booster shot.

Our masking policy depends on COVID-19 Community Levels:

  • Low: Campers and staff will not be required to wear masks.
  • Medium or High: Campers and staff will be required to wear masks indoors.

If the COVID-19 Community Levels change during camp, you will be notified of said-changes and what that means for your camper with regard to masking and other safety measures.

If any staff member or child tests positive for COVID-19 or is in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, they will not be able to return to camp until providing a negative COVID-19 test result for them and the infected person.

We clean bathrooms regularly, offer individual places to store camper belongings, require plenty of hand sanitizer, and hand washing. We ask that kids bring all their own snacks and lunch for health and safety reasons.

If you have questions, please reach out to our Youth Education Programs Manager at hannah@urbanadamah.org.
