Susan recently retired as Editor-in-chief of Sh’ma: A Journal of Jewish Responsibility, where for 21 years she created wide-ranging “conversations” each month about topics critical to contemporary Jewry. She is the editor of two Jewish anthologies, A Heart of Wisdom: Making the Jewish Journey from Mid-Life Through the Aging Years and Celebrating the New Moon: A Rosh Chodesh Anthology. Susan has an MSW from Boston University and a BA from University of California Santa Cruz. She has lived in Maine, Israel, New York, Victoria British Columbia, Boston, and happily settled in Berkeley in 2014, where she lives with her husband and spends time gardening, cooking, hiking and helping to create compassionate communities. Susan has served on the board of the Jewish Studio Project. She has three grown children and eight grandchildren whom she visits often on the two U.S. coasts.
