Fall Gardening Series: Medicinal Plants and Perennial Herbs

Date & Time
September 21, 2014
11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Perennial herbs and medicinal plants offer us essential culinary flavors and remedies for everyday ailments. Learn to grow and properly use both of these types of plants during this workshop. We will also spend time understanding what it means to connect to the land and to develop a sense of place, reading and engaging with poetry and text by anthropologists, spiritual leaders, and poets, including Annie Dillard, Gary Nabhan, and Joanna Macy.

Our Fall Gardening Series is taught by veteran farmer, Ellie Lobovits. Ellie delights in teaching folks of all ages about the plant world, both wild and cultivated. Ellie has worked as the farm manager at Common Ground Farm in New York and Adamah (Urban Adamah’s sister program!) in Connecticut.

Tickets are $5-15 (sliding scale) in advance, $15 at the door. Signing up for both Fall Gardening Series classes is strongly encouraged, but not required! Readings and discussions will build on each other, but will be accessible to all.

Like all events here on the farm, we ask that you bring a canned food item to contribute to our food bank. Thanks for your support!
