Klezmer Workshop & Jam                          

Come jam to klezmer melodies in a supportive community and taught experienced teacher Dmitri Gaskin! You will learn tunes with authentic klezmer style and a participate in a traditional klezmer jam. The balance of learning by ear vs. with charts is chosen by the teacher. For all instruments; no klezmer experience needed. Must be at least intermediate level on your instrument a mute is required if you are a brass player. Want to get a head start, check out sheet music and/or sound files in advance.

Teacher: Dmitri Gaskin

Dmitri Gaskin loves goats. When he’s not drinking milk, making cheese, or eating yogurt, he plays accordion with Saul Goodman’s Klezmer Band. Having played piano from the age of five, Dmitri began playing the accordion a few years later. He has studied with accordion masters Joshua Horowitz and Alan Bern. Dmitri has served on the advisory board of the Jewish Music Festival. By day, Dmitri is a computer programmer.

Registration and Tickets

Registration is sliding scale for all participants, but recommended donation is $25. Advanced registration is encouraged and walk-ins are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided included. For those who want to come and listen, a donation is kindly requested.
