Judaism and Feminism – August 16th

How is femininity diminished in Jewish tradition? What are the harms of gender violence in our community? Together we will draw awareness to these questions through text learning and movement practice. We will unfold the particular flavor of Jewish patriarchy and learn ways to transform this reality. This workshop is open to people of all genders.

Hadar Cohen is a feminist, social artist and ritual leader. An Urban Adamah alumna, she works in the Jewish community as a Jewish Educator for Moishe House and At The Well. Hadar loves birthing her own community projects such as feminism all night, pivot to bloom, and kol isha. She is currently a divinity school student at alt*div learning about divine power.

About Judaism and Isms Summer Series

Judaism & Isms is an ongoing summer workshop series designed to explore the intersection of Judaism and a diversity of other identities we hold. Each class will focus on a particular topic – gender, race & justice, and feminism – and include text-based study, small-group discussion and lecture.  Facilitated by community leaders and scholars Jhos Singer, Ilana Kaufman and Hadar Cohen, this three-part summer series will explore topics in gender, race and feminism, respectively.

The courses will take place in our yurt on the farm, providing intimate space for participants diving into these rich topics. The class will be preceded by a half hour community vegetarian potluck, please bring a dish with you. We are limiting the number of participants to the class so register early to secure your spot, $15 – 25 sliding scale admission, discounted price of $30 if you register for all three classes.
