Camp Heart: Family Bereavement Camp
Camp Heart is a daylong bereavement camp for families, teens, and children ages 6 and up who have experienced a significant loss. Filled with music, games, crafts, and farming, the day will combine emotional support, grief education, and farm experience for both children and adults. Groups will be led by grief professionals and farm educators. The program begins at 1:00 pm and the participants are taken through an embodied journey to honor their loved one(s) and their loss. The journey culminates with a ritual which includes crafting, a procession, and camp fire. There is opportunity for group time, individual attention, and solo time with the chickens and the farm.
Camp Heart brings people of all faiths and walks of life together with the universal need of tending to our losses. It is accessible and free to all and there will be no specific religious practice or tradition employed in this event.

“My daughters still sing the song we sang, sleep with their lanterns, and plead with me to bring them back. (Camp Heart) gave them skills and ways to cope. Camp Heart was somewhere they could feel with their hands and hearts, smell and taste… Kids need to use all of their senses to get the picture, and Camp Heart did that.”
