Youth Camps

At Camp Urban Adamah, we offer campers a taste of organic farm life through fun and dynamic hands-on programs at our urban farm. Our camp sessions are inspired by children’s natural curiosity and innate connection to the earth. Whether they are planting, harvesting, building mud forts, crafting, or preparing farm-to-table meals, campers explore the wonders of the natural world right here in the city.

Camp Urban Adamah draws inspiration from Jewish tradition. In a vibrant and progressive atmosphere, campers learn about Judaism’s deep relationship to farming, food, social justice, and environmental stewardship, as well as how to apply ancient Jewish values in our world today.

As campers explore, play, and learn, we actively cultivate community rooted in a culture of kindness. We strive to build a strong and healthy camp community and to nurture positive relationships among campers utilizing tools such as mindfulness and non-violent communication.

Camp Staff

A core staff of experienced Jewish environmental educators, led by our Camp Manager, Zev Bennett, have the pleasure of running Camp Urban Adamah. Counselors have extensive experience in outdoor and experiential education, and a passion for sharing their love of Judaism and the natural world with children. Counselors are trained extensively on Jewish outdoor education, nonviolent communication, supporting campers of all needs, and creating dynamic project-based learning.

Each year we recruit fabulous camp staff. Want to be one of them? View our open job opportunities

Camp Urban Adamah also welcomes CIT’s who are rising 7 – 9 graders for Main Camp, and Camp Interns for rising 10 – 12 graders for both Sprouts Camp and Main Camp.

Safety, Accessibility & Inclusion

We take the safety of your children and all visitors who come to our working farm very seriously. All staff are background checked and we have staff onsite trained in First Aid / CPR. Our programs take place on a working farm. Campers will engage in outdoor exploration and activities, move about on uneven ground, and work closely with farm animals.

We do our best to meet as wide a range of abilities and special needs as possible. Please let us know if there are any specific physical, developmental, behavioral, or other considerations we should be aware of as we plan for your child at camp (disabilities, allergies, etc.) When needed, our camp leadership works with camp families to create positive behavioral support plans both prior to camp and during the camp session.

Also, please see our Vaccination Policy for details on requirements for campers.

“Urban Adamah is a magical experience where city kids can not only learn about the food and animals that we eat but gain an appreciation for the gift of nature and the gift of community.”

Leah Katz Ahmadi

“Every day my son left Camp Urban Adamah full of stories – from telling me about the foods they made and the Jewish values they discussed, to teaching me the lyrics to Space Chicken. Urban Adamah creatively engaged my 6-year-old with his whole self.”
