Urban Adamah (UA) is seeking its first full time Outreach and Communications Manager. This person will be responsible for planning and implementing all external outreach and communications of the organization. The Outreach and Communications Manager will be supported by UA’s Design Lead, who is skilled in graphic design, as well as Program and Administrative Associates in implementation related to their departments. This person will be supervised by the Executive Director. The Outreach and Communications Manager will be responsible for overseeing all copy used on our website and in all outreach and marketing, and will utilize a variety of platforms including UA’s website, email, social media, as well as limited direct mail and advertisement.


Outreach and Marketing: Recruit participants for UA’s programs, including the 3-month young adult fellowship, summer and winter camp, retreats, and more limited programs of several hours or a day—including through the use of email, social media, and limited direct mail ad advertisement. Oversee outreach for staff recruitment.

Communications: Share UA’s activities and messages with priority audiences, including current and prospective program participants, interested members of the community, donors, etc., through UA’s website, email, and social media platforms (primarily Facebook).  Copy edit all program descriptions, website copy, newsletters, collateral, etc. Ensure consistency in UA’s visual and verbal branding. Oversee the physical site signage plan, content, and implementation. Conduct press outreach and respond to press inquiries (limited).

Strategy and Planning: Help to lead the development of outreach and communications strategies and plans, including assessing needs and opportunities and developing strategies and implementation plans relating to all external outreach, marketing, and communications.

Donor relations: Support communications with donors through writing, collateral development, and others means as requested.

IT: Manage content of UA’s WordPress-based website (as well as oversee technical aspects), which will be redeveloped in summer 2018 with support of a graphics firm. Ensure integration of registration systems and outreach platforms, ensure relevant data are collected both to track participation and to tell UA’s story, and analyze and report on data analysis regularly.

Additional Responsibilities: Urban Adamah has a very lean staff. Occasionally, the Outreach and Communications Manager will be asked to perform duties not explicitly listed in this job description.



Candidates must have at least 3 years of work experience in outreach, marketing, and written and oral communications, preferably in the non-profit sector, including the following experience: leading and managing outreach and communications projects, managing websites, managing social media outreach campaigns, working closely with other staff, and collaborating with design professionals. Candidates must be outstanding writers and editors of effective website, social media, and marketing copy and highly proficient with web-based platforms as well as MS Office. Candidates must be in personal alignment with Urban Adamah’s mission and eager to promote the organization’s programs. Candidates need not be Jewish but must be familiar with Jewish tradition, holidays, and idioms.

Schedule: This is a full-time 40-hour per week position, that is generally Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Salary and Benefits:  This is a full-time position with benefits including health care and paid vacation, as described in Urban Adamah’s personnel code. Salary is competitive and DOE.
