Public Programs Associate

Urban Adamah in Berkeley, CA seeks a Public Programs Associate to serve as the key support member for all public events, retreats, and site rentals on the farm. The Associate will have a range of responsibilities including hosting farm events and retreats, facilitating community building, hosting site rentals, and providing administrative support. Specific responsibilities are described below.
Public Programs: Supporting and collaborating with the Public Programs Director and working with other staff and external vendors to deliver high quality, on-brand, mission aligned programming to the broader community. Types of public programs include Jewish holiday celebrations and festivals, sustainable agriculture workshops, mindfulness and other multi-day retreats, concerts, and trainings. The Associate will be responsible for personally hosting events, welcoming and helping participants connect with one another, and acting as support staff for other events. Additional work includes supporting the Public Program Director in program planning and logistics, follow-up and evaluation, and purchasing supplies for programs, as needed.
Site Rentals: Serving in the role of site rental host for as many rentals, including some multi-day residential retreats, as makes sense given other responsibilities above. This role includes setup and breakdown of spaces as well as logistical and administrative work required for these events.
Other Responsibilities: Urban Adamah has a very lean staff. The Public Programs Associate may be asked to support the organization in other ways as needed, including supervising volunteers or others hired to work in the Public Programs Department. This may also include representing Urban Adamah within the greater community of the Bay Area in a variety of ways.
Supervision: The Public Programs Associate will be supervised by the Public Programs and Retreat Center Director.
Compensation and Schedule
This is a full-time position that includes full-time benefits as outlined in Urban Adamah’s Personnel Code, including health care coverage and paid time off. This position will require availability to work between 9am and 5pm on most weekdays and most weeks will include work done on weekends and/or evenings. A 40-hour work week will be maintained in consultation with the supervisor – thus, weekend and evening work requirements will be offset by reduced standard hours worked those weeks. Salary (not including benefits) is $38,000.
