Volunteer on the Farm

watering in greenhouse

Join us on the farm! Our farm in West Berkeley relies on volunteers to help us grow the thousands of pounds of produce we harvest every year and donate through our Free Farm Stand and area food banks.

If you like working outdoors, meeting new people, contributing to the greater good, learning new skills and getting your hands dirty with satisfying farm work, you’ll love volunteering with us. Farm work might include seeding in the greenhouse, weeding, harvesting crops, animal care, helping with repairs and assisting around the farm with other small and big projects. No experience is necessary! Just bring your fun-loving attitude and we’ll train you on the rest. Remember to dress for the outdoors with appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.

WEEKLY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Join us for an hour, or stay for the whole morning or afternoon. Volunteers are welcome at the farm every week during the following times:

Tuesday: 2-5pm

Wednesday: 9am-12pm

There’s no need to register in advance, and volunteers age 12 (with an adult) and older are welcome. When you first arrive at the farm, please check in at the office with Kat.

MONTHLY VOLUNTEER WORK PARTIES

Once a month during the growing season, we hold volunteer parties on Sunday afternoons (2-5pm). Work parties are open to all individuals ages 12 and older, and are a fun way to make a real difference on our farm. After you’ve worked up an appetite, stay for a vegetarian potluck meal. Please bring something to share. We ask volunteers at our Sunday Work Parties to arrive at 2pm and to plan on staying the entire afternoon.

Upcoming Work Parties

May 19, 2-5pm

June 23, 2-5pm

If you have questions about volunteering on the farm, please contact us at volunteer(at)urbanadamah.org.

GROUP VOLUNTEER VISITS

We happily host school classes, congregations, alumni associations and other groups at our farm. To learn more about setting up a group visit, please see our Group Programs page, or contact Casey Yurrow at casey(at)urbanadamah.org or 510-649-1595 ext 304.

Like all events here on the farm, we ask that you bring a canned food item for our food bank. In addition to providing fresh produce and eggs to the local community, we also donate over 1,000 cans of dry goods the Alameda Country Food Bank each year. Thanks for supporting this effort.
